Q: I'm new to the Island - how do I access the learning activities for my class?

A: Spark Island is a huge site - and growing - but you will soon become familiar with our activity finding tools. There are two ways of accessing the learning content:

1) to help you prepare effectively and quickly you will find our unique Activity Finders for maths, English, science and ICT on the front of your school homepage. These activity indexes group the curriculum content by subject, by year and term, and by specific learning outcome - so you can identify and locate the activities that best fit your lesson plan in a jiffy. This applies equally to the National Curricula (in England and Northern Ireland), the NLS and NNS AND to the Scottish 5-14 Guidelines (with the exception of ICT, which is currently only available for England).

2) You and your pupils can also access all the learning activities from the three animated regions of the island, also located on your school homepage. Visit Spark Park (Early Years); Sparklantis (KS1/Levels B-D) and Sparkopolis (Levels D-E) and discover the activities as you explore the magical island.

Q: How do I locate the relevant activity for my lesson?

A: The quickest way to access a specific activity is to use the subject-specific Activity Finders for maths, English, science and ICT, located on your school homepage. You can also access these via the navigation menu, which is always on the left hand side of the screen.
Imagine you're planning a Literacy lesson for Year 3, Term 3 on spelling strategies...
